After seven long years of research, not only to localize Chinese armorial porcelain, but also to identify their owners, Antoine Lebel publishes a book on French armorials painted on Chinese porcelain in the 18th century.
This book presents over 260 French families, among which ten settled in Switzerland. Each entry, accompanied by a photo of an example of an armorial piece and a detail of the arms, gives as much information as possible on the social position and the life of the owner of the service. This research work enables also the reader to be better acquainted with the first actors of the trade between the West and the Far-East, and their place in French 18th-century society.
