This book gives a broad introduction to the life and work of Asger Jorn (1914-1973), one of the most significant Scandinavian artists. Jorn created a vast oeuvre of paintings, prints, tapestries, ceramics, collages and sculpture, characterized by a continuous effort to radically renew any of the media he was working with. He was also a founding member of various international art movements, such as CoBrA or the Situationist International.
This volume presents a selection of Jorn's key works and features many original documents. Arranged in chapters focusing on crucial moments of his life or works of particular significance for his career, it illustrates the diversity of Jorn's artistic and literary production and reveals his highly ironic and poetic approach to various topics in art, politics and philosophy.
