Daisy and Fred de Cabrol were one of the prominent couples of the 20th century international society. They spent their weekends at the Mac Mahons or the Brissacs, hunted with the Princesse de Caraman-Chimay, socialized with the Maharani of Kapurthala, Queen Amélie of Portugal or the Count of Paris. Intimates of the Café Society, close to the Windsor, they were invited by the Baron de Rédé, Mona Bismark or Elsa Maxwell. They participated to every ball, at Etienne de Beaumont, Marie-Laure de Noailles or at the Palazzo Labia in 1951 where they were photographed by Cecil Beaton. The Winter Ball organized by the Baronne de Cabrol, president of the Essor, remains one of the most memorable.
This book presents this privileged world through the scrapbooks kept with talent and wit by the Baron de Cabrol from 1938 to the 1960s. It recounts with the help of collages, watercolours, unpublished period documents, the exceptional path of a couple, actor and witness of a golden age of elegance and art.
