Exhibition at the Musée du Louvre-Lens, 11 July 2021 - 10 January 2022
As the ultimate point of convergence, the floor has become the new stage on which new artistic experiments are born. Bernar Venet (1941-) has chosen it for his research, making it a space where painting and sculpture obey unusual rules. From Performance dans les poubelles to Effondrements and, quite naturally, Tas de charbon, Bernar Venet entrusts forces beyond his control with an important role in the creation of his works. With them, the hypothesis of gravity is largely verified.
This exhibition catalogue presents around 70 sculptures by Bernar Venet, as well as archive photos and drawings by the artist.
