Exhibition at the Petit Palais, Paris, 29 March - 24 July 2022
Giovanni Boldini (1842-1932) spent most of his career in the Paris of the Belle Époque, of which he was one of the most sensitive and imaginative interpreters. A virtuoso painter, he enjoyed unquestionable success during his lifetime and became the favourite portraitist of a wealthy and international clientele.
This exhibition catalogue, which is also the first monograph in French devoted to Boldini, is organised chronologically. It presents nearly two hundred paintings, illuminated by essays by French and Italian specialists, as well as by numerous comments on the works.
