The American artist Cy Twombly (1928-2011) is known for his tumbling, nervous markings, initially mistaken for something between graffiti and écriture automatique.
This sixth volume of Twombly's catalogue raisonné of drawings and sketchbooks is devoted to the years 1972-1979. It includes famous works such as Mars and the Artist, Bassano in Teverina, his drawings on ancient gods, Pan, Venus, and Apollo, and his set of drawings 24 Short Pieces.
