This collection devoted to artists' studios reveals, in a quasi-journalistic way, the essence of the creative place. The daily life of artists is documented through photographs and interviews to capture their thoughts and the atmosphere of the studio, from the most conventional to the most unexpected. Daniel Buren's art delights in the discovery of new places in order to satisfy a desire for perpetual renewal. Nearly a hundred of his works realized in situ have been disseminated throughout the world. In 2007, the spaces of the Lisson Gallery in London were the scene of new experiments. Daniel Buren has designed custom-made pieces for this architecture. The photographs and words of the artist illustrate the two-week creative process: from the preparatory drawings to the installation of the volumes, colors and bands.
