Exhibition at the Hôtel de Ville, Brussels, 1 December 2010 - 20 March 2011
At the beginning of the 20th century, Fauvism was flourishing in Paris. Under the impetus of Henri Matisse and other great names such as Vlaminck and Braque, Hungarian artists took up the use of large flat areas of bright colours. This road to a modernity tinged with local particularities is the focus of this exhibition catalogue, which brings together more than fifty works from the main Hungarian museums and private collections.
