Albrecht Dürer was one of the most important and influential artists of the Renaissance in the northern countries. As a painter, engraver and theoretician, he was familiar with the works of the major artists of his time, such as Raphael, Bellini and Leonardo da Vinci. His great skill and talent as a draughtsman were evident from an early age - as in the self-portrait he made in silverpoint in 1484, when he was just thirteen years old. Dürer produced a large number of engravings and altarpieces, as well as portraits, self-portraits, watercolours and books.
This book describes his paintings, drawings and engravings in detail and offers clear and accessible analyses. The book is organised by theme and includes a biography.
