This book is the catalogue raisonné of the work of Gaston d'Illiers (1876-1932), animal sculptor specialised in horses.
Trained notably by the Catalan sculptor Gustave Obiols, Gaston d'Illiers devoted his life to his two passions: horses and sculpture. He rapidly became famous, and his works were exhibited at the Salon des artistes français from 1899 to 1930. His bronzes were appreciated for their realism.
This study includes of biography of the artist, a catalogue raisonné of his work, and appendixes, including a survey of his exhibitions and a catalogue of his works curated in museums.
