Exhibition at the Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain, Paris, 6 July, 2021 - 2 January, 2022
Damien Hirst (1965-) devoted two years, in 2018 and 2019, to creating the 107 imposing paintings of the Cherry Blossoms series. In his London studio, he combined thick brushstrokes and elements of gestural painting, referencing Impressionism, Pointillism, and Action Painting.
This exhibition catalogue and catalogue raisonné of the series brings together all of the Cherry Blossoms through 250 colour reproductions and numerous details, 18 foldouts, and various contributions by specialists. An anthology of texts offers a literary exploration of the theme of cherries and cherry blossoms.
