The Agneau Mystique, famous retable by the brothers Hubert and Jan van Eyck, finished in 1432, is kept in the church Saint-Bavon in Ghent, for which he was created.
This book presents this major work by giving an analysis of its signification as of its style, with a rich illustration. It also tries to show what were the beginnings of this art and its development by Jan, the younger of the two artists. After an account presenting the life and production of the two artists, an appendix gathers the documents on which is based the research and a catalogue of works expounding the various hypothesis, they may have suggested.
