Functionalist, simple and precious furniture was created by Jacques Adnet when he joined Maurice Dufrêne at the galeries Lafayette mastership. In 1928, Adnet became Director of la Compagnie des Arts Français, founded by Süe and Mare in 1919.Some artists who were sharing his aesthetics, joined him: painters :Dufy, Chagall, Léger, Pascin, céramists, brass-founders, golsmiths then some decorators : Francis Jourdain, Charlotte Perriand, René Gabriel then Alexandre Noll, Paul Jouve, Serge Mouille..Adnet was among the first to expect metal and glass to integrate with the structure and decoration of furniture (chairs, tables, small furniture or lamps). He produced incorporated precious woods, chromed metals, embellishments such as mirror, leather.

After the war, he made use of wood in designing simple shaped furniture. He executed furniture for private mansions or steamers and for the cabinet of the president of the republic, Vincent Auriol.
