Exhibition at the Musée Boucher de Perthes, Abbeville, 14 December 2021 - 19 March 2022
Goldsmith and engraver born in Abbeville, Jean Sgard (1891-1966) participated fully in the artistic and cultural life of his native town for over forty years. Awarded several times, he obtained the title of Meilleur Ouvrier de France in 1936 for his work as a goldsmith and, rare occurence, obtained a second one in 1961 for his work as an engraver. He also exhibited his work in the most important Parisian salons. Although his work has gradually fallen into oblivion, he is still remembered by enthusiasts as the last goldsmith and engraver from Abbeville.
This exhibition catalogue aims to revive his memory and to present the wide range of his talents.
