In 1900, the entrepreneur Géo Martel bought the Desvres factory. His talent as a designer and his research into glazes led him to reproduce high-quality earthenware in imitation of the old Delft earthenware, both prestigious and more popular, which had come into fashion at the end of the 19th century.
Based on the documentation collected during the liquidation of the factory in 2003, this book studies the Delft reproductions from the Desvres factory, compares them with the originals and traces their history. Extensive catalogues show the astonishing variety of plates, trimmings and form pieces made in Desvres.
