From 19th century until 1930, millions of Comtoise clocks were produced, mainly in Morbier and Morez in the Jura, but many have since disappeared, often because of damp floors, persistent smoke or clumsy repairs that dealt a fatal blow to the clock's integrity.
After developing the historical aspect, this book studies all the stages in the manufacture of the "great clock" and the elements that make up its decoration, and then looks at restoration techniques.
