Exhibition at the Palais Lumière, Évian-les-Bains, 27 February - 30 May, 2021
The Grisons, a Swiss territory in the Alps, has long been a land of welcome and inspiration for many artists.
This book traces the fertile restitution of these landscapes at the dawn of the 20th century, through the eyes of a core group of artists, and is structured in particular around the central and unifying figure of Giovanni Giacometti. It recounts the personal, artistic and friendly links forged between Giacometti and Giovanni Segantini, who was his teacher, but also with two of his contemporaries and friends, Cuno Amiet and Ferdinand Hodler. Other artists around these four protagonists are also presented, including Alberto Giacometti and Joseph Beuys.
