The Tuileries Palace, which was the residence of French heads of state until 1870, had a sumptuous throne room at its centre, which Louis ⅩⅤⅢ, succeeding Napoleon, had completely renovated to designs by Jean-Démosthène Dugourc. After the fall of the Second Empire, the decorative elements of this room were placed in the reserves of the Mobilier national. Identified and restored one by one, they enabled the room to be reconstituted in the Louvre in 2024.

Through the sparkling bronzes, gilded woods and sumptuous silks of this royal décor, this book invites us to discover the decorative inventiveness of the rules of Louis ⅩⅤⅢ and Charles Ⅹ, as well as a series of masterpieces by great Parisian craftsmen - Thomire, Jacob-Desmalter, Picot... The exhibition also includes masterpieces by leading Parisian craftsmen such as Thomire, Jacob-Desmalter and Picot, as well as works from Lyon's silk industry and the factories of La Savonnerie, Beauvais and Les Gobelins.
