Built in the 18th century by Ange Jacques Gabriel, King Louis XV's first architect, the Hôtel de la Marine housed the Garde-Meuble royal until the 1790s. In charge of the furnishings of the sovereigns' residences, the Garde-Meuble was also responsible for the conservation and presentation of the royal collections and the famous Crown jewels.
From the history of the monument to its current renaissance, from the representation areas to the private flats of the furniture keepers, this book explores an exceptional site sublimated by an unprecedented photographic campaign.
