Exhibition at the Musée des Confluences, Lyon, 6 June 2019 - 15 March 2020
Over a period of twenty years, Antoine de Galbert built up a collection of more than 500 headdresses from around the world, that he donated to the Musée des Confluences in 2017. In their diversity, these headdresses, helmets, caps and bonnets bear witness to a simple fact: humanity covers its head.
In this richly illustrated exhibition catalogue, the headdresses are presented along with studies on these symbols of the world's cultures, their aesthetics, their materials, but also their role and status within the various peoples.
