Aesthetic seduction, technical excellence and historical interest are the three pillars of the "Decorative arts" collection of Fondation Gandur pour l'art (Geneva) created in 2010.
This first volume, organised thematically, aims at cataloguing the works of the collection that have closely-connected ornamental and narrative dimensions. In most cases, they are sculpted works - statuettes and decorative reliefs - along with bidimensional decorations representing scenes inspired by Antiquity or Christianism, dating from the 12th to the 18th century. Each work is accompanied by an entry that details its historical and geographical context, iconography, a reference bibliography and the exhibitions in which the work was shown.
