Exhibition at the Musée de l'Annonciade, Saint-Tropez, 3 July - 14 Novembre, 2021
The immense talent of Nadia Léger (1904-1982) has long been overshadowed by the fame of her husband, the painter Fernand Léger, to whom she devoted her life. However, Nadia Léger produced a rich and varied body of work of extraordinary modernity. Her works cross the greatest pictorial currents of the 20th century, from Suprematism to Cubism, through Surrealism to a socialist realism with chromatic tones that heralded Pop Art.
This exhibition catalogue, which puts the spotlight back on an accomplished artist, bears witness to the diversity of the artist's work through drawings, gouaches and paintings - some unknown to specialists and reproduced for the first time - mainly from the Nadia Léger collection.
