Exhibition at Hauser & Wirth, New York 69th Street, 3 November 2022 - 4 February 2023.
Sculpture is an integral part of Lucio Fontana's (1899-1968) artistic project and has played an essential role in his evolution; indeed, he experimented with the medium from the beginning to the end of his career, using it to test and practice the exchange between form, colour, material, and space, through a dialectical relationship between the abstract and the figurative, space and the baroque.
The first English-language scholarly monograph devoted to Lucio Fontana's sculpture, this book traces the Italian-Argentinian artist's exploration of the medium from the 1920s until his death in 1968. Bodies of work from different periods are examined together, highlighting the continuity and evolution of his work.
