The name Johann Joachim Kaendler (1706-1775) is closely associated with the golden age of Meissen porcelain manufacture. His artistic talent, combined with his craftsmanship, enabled him to depict the daily life of the nobility in their palaces and residences through numerous groups and characters. Kaendler did not limit himself to official events, but reflected the tastes, aspirations and trends of his time.
This book brings together for the first time impressive porcelain figurines by Kaendler from first-rate European private collections. These objects, many of them unique, reflect the tastes and trends of the eighteenth century and offer a glimpse of court life in the Baroque and Rococo periods.
