Exhibition at the Robilant + Voena Gallery, London, 27 February - 1 June 2018
Marino Marini (1901-1980) was among the most famous and successful of all post-war Italian sculptors.
This exhibition catalogue celebrates the themes for which he was best known : equestrian statuary and female nudes. It explores the meanings of Marini's Horses and Riders, and traces their evolution from his first Rider, which scandalised critics at the 1936 Venice Biennale, to the enigmatic, expressionist Miracles and Warriors of the late 1950s, which were highpoints of modern Italian sculpture.
