Exhibition at the Musée d'art moderne de Fontevraud-Collections nationales Martine et Léon Cligman, Fontevraud-l'Abbaye, 10 June - 18 September 2022
Through the selection of an exceptional group of thirty masterpieces by Claude Monet - most of them "Monet's Monets", donated by the painter's son - this exhibition catalogue analyses the decisive stages in the artist's artistic career, from the Views of the St-Lazare station to the constantly renewed representations of the water lilies at Giverny.
Through numerous reproductions - including enlargements of each painting - and essays, the book allows us to understand the way in which the leader of the Impressionist movement used new pictorial means, heralding a veritable artistic revolution that would become the foundation of modern art in the 20th century.
