Exhibition at the Fondation Baur-Musée des arts d'Extrême-Orient, Geneva, 27 September 2018 - 3 February 2019
The two hundred masterpieces from the Baur Collection in Geneva and the Zhuyuetang Collection in Hong Kong, brought together for the first time in this exhibition catalogue, bear witness to the refinement and limpidity of the decorations and forms of Chinese monochrome ceramics.
The unparalleled sophistication of Tang and Song ceramics inspired the imperial porcelains of the Ming and Qing dynasties, produced in the Jingdezhen kilns from the 14th to the 18th century. Beyond the sacred or profane context that characterizes them, by their suggestive power, their purity and the chromatic vibrations that emanate from them, these works touch the universal.
