Exhibition at the Musée de la Faïence, Sarreguemines, 26 June - 3 November 2013;
Musée d'Art Moderne de Troyes, 16 November 2013 - 6 April 2014

The collection of French ceramics from the 1940s, 50s and 60s assembled by Jean-Jacques and Bénédicte Wattel demonstrates the highly developed and accomplished artistic abundance that characterised the period. The collection mainly includes works from La Borne, Paris and Vallauris through emblematic artists such as Lerat, Jouve, Madoura, Innocenti and Derval, but also lesser-known artists such as Tessier, Rozay, Guillot and Coustère.

With some 600 photographs, this catalogue of the exhibition devoted to the Wattel collection is divided into three parts: the first one, historical, traces chronologically the artistic career of the ceramists in the collection, in order to identify the artistic trends and aspirations of each decade. The second part deals with the way in which the collection was assembled; the third shows a work by each of the important ceramists from the post-war period to the end of the 1960s.
