The prism of the "cursed artist" myth has confused for a long time the understanding of the work of Amedeo Modigliani's (1884-1920).
This monograph studies the world of this artistic myth in bohemian Paris. Modigliani seized the particularities of the changing society: new place of women (the famous "Garçonne"), highlighting of youth and cosmopolitism. A society Modigliani approached following never-denied social convictions and with a predilection for popular subjects. His style is rooted in the Parisian world but never remained closed in it, from Cubism under the aegis of the dealer Paul Guillaume to a "Cubist-metaphysical" language.
