A versatile artist active since the 1970s, Nestor Perkal (1951-) is a designer of furniture, objects and lighting, an interior architect, a scenographer, an exhibition curator and an art director.

He moved to Paris in 1978, where he opened several galleries and published his own furniture. In 1985, he participated in "Vivre en couleur", the first exhibition of the Fondation Cartier dedicated to design, alongside other young designers of his generation, including Garouste & Bonetti, Philippe Starck and the Totem collective. In 1992, he set up the CRAFT (Centre de recherche sur les arts du feu et de la terre) in Limoges, which he directed until 2009.

During his career, Nestor Perkal has created a large artistic community of creators, designers, artists, manufacturers, sponsors and collectors around him, which has enabled him to develop different practices while forging a coherent know-how in tune with his time.

This first monograph on Nestor Perkal, published in parallel with the retrospective devoted to him at the MADD in Bordeaux and the Années 80 exhibition at the Arts Décoratifs in Paris, aims to transcribe as exhaustively as possible the extraordinary career of this artist who plays an essential role in the promotion and production of contemporary designers, architects and artists.
