Exhibition at the Château de Fontainebleau, 4 June - 20 September 2021
This exhibition catalogue presents the diplomatic gifts offered by the penultimate Shogun Iemochi to Napoleon III, during two Japanese embassies in 1862 and 1864. A time exposed and admired, this set of works of art was later placed in the reserves of the castle and gradually forgotten. This volume offers an opportunity to rediscover them.
