A rising star on the African scene living and working between Dakar, Geneva and New York, Omar Ba (1977-) is a complex artist whose every work acts as a politically engaged metaphor for the continent's challenges and position on the international stage. Over the past ten years, Omar Ba has presented his work in numerous international solo and group exhibitions, and his works are held in several public collections and foundations, including the Centre National des Arts Plastiques, the Centre Pompidou and the Louis Vuitton Collection in Paris, the Swiss National Collection in Basel and the Louvre Abu Dhabi.
Through his complex and luminous works, Omar Ba questions politics, the economy, the exploitation of resources, diseases, but also the ontological ambivalence of the world, between civilisation and barbarism, between past and future.
This monograph, which echoes the inaugural exhibition at the Templon Gallery in New York, provides an overview of Omar Ba's work from 2016 to the present.
