Patrick Roger (1968-) is an emblematic figure in the world of chocolate. He transforms his favourite material into sculptures in the same way that others model clay, sculpt stone or wood, and gives life to creations of a new kind, always extravagant, but less ephemeral.
Through his works in bronze, metal, aluminium or stainless steel, the chocolate sculptor practises his art with passion to tell, question, or denounce subjects that are close to his heart. For his works, Patrick Roger draws inspiration from his surroundings - Céleste, Camille and Mathilde sculptures - as well as from nature - Dendrology, Moon, Iceland - or celebrities, including Annie Lennox and Michael Jackson.
From Harold, his first piece transposed into bronze by Fonderie Susse, to the present day, Patrick Roger works with the best foundrymen: Fusions in Auvergne for aluminium, Bocquel, César's foundryman, for iron or silver, Coubertin for small formats, Strassacker, in Germany, for large ones.
In this book, 177 new creations are presented, each accompanied by a precise description and spectacular images that sublimate the materials. A notebook of contemporary inspirations and a reproduction of Patrick Roger's sketchbook complete the repertory of works, allowing the reader to immerse himself in the universe of the sculptor.
