Quasar Khanh (1934-2016) is one of the very few designers who have left their creative mark on the 20th century. His most emblematic achievement is the iconic aerospace line of inflatable furniture. This alone embodies the spirit of design renewal of the 1960s and 1970s: a breath of fresh air that frees itself from all historical and cultural references to propose an alternative world, imbued with a great utopia. In addition to his innovative and ever-present design, it also perfectly symbolises the atypical career of this engineer from the Ponts-et-Chaussées, who never ceased to materialise his wildest inventions: fashion, furniture, cars, boats, planes, cities or even... flying saucers.
This book reveals for the first time the creative itinerary of an insatiable visionary, who continues to inspire the greatest names in contemporary design.
