Exhibition at Galerie Jacques de Vos, Paris, 25 May - 29 July 2023
The work of Quentin Garel (1975-), a graduate of the Beaux-Arts in Paris then resident at the Casa Velázquez from 1998 to 2000, is influenced by the animal world. The sculptor draws his inspiration from anatomy, skeletons and archaeological remains to create sculptures with hybrid forms. For the last twenty years, he has been exhibiting in various institutions around the world. His works can also be found in a number of public places, notably in Nanterre and Lille.
This exhibition catalogue presents wooden works sculpted with a chainsaw, some of them very large (up to 6 metres across), several bronzes and a grandiose palimpsest (over 2 metres long), illustrating Quentin Garel's singular approach and his talent as a draughtsman. The works on display come from the Patrice Peltier collection.
