The weaving artist Simone Prouvé (1931-) worked at a very young age with César, Le Corbusier, Charlotte Perriand, Bernard Zehrfuss, Jean Le Couteur, Steph Simon, Calder, François Stahly, Pierre Jeanneret, Michel Bataille... Throughout her career, the artist created abstract works for architecture or furniture, first with traditional materials, then with innovative materials such as stainless steel threads or fibreglass.
Simone Prouvé has received numerous commissions, including the Malraux Museum in Le Havre, the Matisse Museum in Cateau-Cambrésis and the MACRO in Rome. In 2021, the Musée National d'Art Moderne acquired a set of pieces from him, which have been added to its collections and exhibited in a dedicated room in the permanent collections of the Centre Pompidou.
In this first and only book dedicated to her, Jean Prouvé's daughter recounts her career path, which has its roots in childhood thanks to a free education that nourished and encouraged creativity and creation.
