Exhibition at the Neue Gallery, New York, 11 November 2022 - 13 February 2023
This catalogue of the twentieth anniversary exhibition of the Neue Galerie focuses on the collection that Ronald S. Lauder, the museum's founder and president, developed over a period of 65 years.
The book presents a collection of five hundred works, including masterpieces of Greek and Roman sculpture, Italian paintings on a gold background from the 13th and 14th centuries, objects intended for a Kunstkammer, and Austrian and German paintings, sculptures and decorative arts from the early 20th century. Essays by leading art historians and curators examine the scope of these particular areas, providing context for various works and their inclusion in the collection of the co-founder of the Neue Galerie.
