Exhibition at the Monnaie de Paris, 15 March - 16 June 2019
Since the 1980s, German artist Thomas Schütte (1954-) has emerged as one of the main reinventors of sculpture. Today he is a major and unclassifiable artist. The plurality of mediums employed by Thomas Schütte (sculpture, installation, photography, painting, drawing) corresponds to a set of genres, that of the portrait, the still life and the landscape.
The catalogue of this exhibition in three acts - women, men and architecture - bears witness to Thomas Schütte's disturbing and grating analysis of the organisation of society and its impact on individuals.
