Exhibition at the Musée d'art moderne, Paris, 25 March - 24 July 2022
The Czech artist Marie Čermínová (1902-1980), known as Toyen, is an exceptional figure of Surrealism and post-war art. A pioneer of the avant-garde in Prague and Paris, deeply free and politically committed, her work was nourished in many ways by her collaborations and friendships with Paul Eluard, André Breton, Benjamin Péret, Heisler, Styrsky and Yves Tanguy.
This exhibition catalogue is structured by numerous scientific contributions and contains over 500 illustrations. It offers the first major French monograph on Toyen's work and is enriched with previously unpublished works from all periods of the artist's life.
