Exhibition at Les Capucins, Landerneau, 15 December 2019 - 26 April 2020
Serbian-born French artist Philippe Velickovic (1935-2019) asserted himself at the Venice Biennale in 1972 as one of the most important European artists. He offered an alternative to the pop art and hyperrealism that were triumphant at the time.
This exhibition catalogue covers Velickovic's entire oeuvre as a painter and draughtsman. It reveals a painting of death, of the moment before death or of intolerable suffering, a moving testimony to the human condition.
