Exhibition at the Centre Pompidou, Paris, 24 January - 6 May 1996
The Victor Brauner collection held by the Museum is considerable: correspondence, including that with his friends René Char and André Breton, notes, sketches and projects, photographs, sketchbooks, as well as all the works in his library.
This exhibition catalogue shows many of the one hundred and fifty works in the Victor Brauner (1903-1966) collection at the Centre Pompidou, including gifts and bequests from Jacqueline Victor Brauner, illuminated manuscripts, sketches and drawings that only a few researchers have had the opportunity to see until now, and numerous archival documents - all of which were present in the artist's studio at the time he died.
