New updated edition
Living and working in Paris, Demétre Chiparus (1886-1947) was one of the most important sculptors of the Art Deco era, although he considered himself a painter before being a sculptor. However, his name was lost in archives and catalogues until Alberto Shayo rediscovered his work in the 1990s.
This new, updated edition of the monograph devoted to the Romanian artist includes newly discovered works, including the marble Polar Bear, missing for more than 75 years and exhibited for the first and last time in Paris at the 1943 Salon des artistes français. Numerous previously unpublished paintings are brought to light, as well as recently rediscovered oils and red chalks, confirming his skills in both fields.
