Exhibition at the MAH, Geneva, 16 March - 1 September 2024
In 2020, the Musée d'art et d'histoire de Genève launched a programme to enhance the value of its collections in collaboration with the University of Geneva. This applied research project combines four levels of collaboration: the study of works, their treatment, publication and exhibition.
This exhibition catalogue highlights the evolution of artistic taste and techniques from 1800 to 1918, from neo-clacissism to the avant-gardes of the early twentieth century. Highlights include works such as Death of Socrates by François-Xavier Fabre and View of Auvers with Wheatfield by Vincent van Gogh. The book covers every aspect of a heritage enhancement project, from building up the collection to research questions and the study of the painter's craft.
