The artists of the Société nouvelle de peintres et de sculpteurs, the most famous and typical artistic brotherhood of the Belle Époque and inter-war periods, are often called the "Last Impressionists". His members had in common taste for intimacy, familial scenes and landscapes. From 1895 to 1939, they were praised by public and critics, and their works shown in all the great international exhibitions.
Through works by Edmond Aman-Jean, Eugène Carrière, Émile Claus, Charles Cottet, André Dauchez, George Desvallières, Henri Duhem, Antonio de La Gandara, Gaston La Touche, Ernest Laurent, Henri Le Sidaner, Henri Martin, Émile René Ménard, René-Xavier Prinet, Jean-François Raffaëlli, Lucien Simon and Frits Thaulow, this exhibition catalogue gives back to this movement the importance it deserves.
