The work of Georges Bourgeois (1898-1937), aka Djo-Bourgeois, reveals an amazing spatial requirement, thought from a meticulous rationality and a great modernity, following the masters of Bauhaus and De Stijl. As soon as 1925, architect Mallet-Stevens offered him the furnishing of the Noailles' villa in Hyères.
Before his premature death, Djo-Bourgeois produced furniture in metal, glass, cement and wood, and realised numerous interiors for private clients while devoting himself to commercial architecture and creation of furniture and theatre decors.
Based on numerous photographic, textual and drawing documents, this monograph is the first book ever published on the artist.
