Exhibition at the Fonds Hélène et Edouard Leclerc pour la culture, Landerneau, 12 June 2022 - 15 January 2023
Ernest Pignon-Ernest (1942-) has been intervening in the public space for over fifty years. Writers, resistance fighters, mystics, masterpieces of the past pasted in the streets of Naples, victims in Soweto, Haiti, Grenoble, solitudes in Lyon, in Paris: Ernest Pignon-Ernest's collages, often made in complex situations in Algiers, Port au Prince, Ramallah, Avignon, have become the afterimages of the emotions that these figures or these distresses inspire in us.
This exhibition catalogue presents installations, drawings and photographs by the artist, revealing his entire creative process. More than three hundred works testify to the creative power of Pignon-Ernest, alerted by the state of the world, stirred by his passion for art and poetry, sometimes considered a pioneer of urban art.
