One of the great figures of French Neo-Impressionism alongside Seurat and Signac, Henri-Edmond Cross (1856-1910), born Henri Edmond Delacroix, made his debut at the 1881 Salon, where he chose the pseudonym 'Cross' to distinguish himself from Eugène Delacroix.

Initially a naturalist painter, Cross gradually moved closer to the Neo-Impressionists and became friends with Charles Angrand, van Rysselberghe and Maximilien Luce. He then settled on the Mediterranean coast, which became the main motif of many landscapes painted according to the Divisionist formula. His work influenced the Fauvist painters, including Matisse.

This book is a catalogue raisonné of Cross's paintings. Each work is accompanied by a note.
