Exhibition at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Strasbourg, 24 May - 8 September 2002
The Uruguayan-born painter Joaquin Torres-Garcia (1874-1949) developed in Paris a synthetic constructivism between pure abstraction and pre-Columbian archaic values, between the rule and the random.
This exhibition catalogue presents 150 pieces by the artist: paintings, sculptures, drawings and wooden toys, with a special focus on his Parisian years, from 1926 to 1934. The book also includes an anthology of the artist's texts.
