Study of the world of chairmakers and one of their leaders: Nicolas Hertaut. This work is completed by the study of other craftsmen important for the making of chairs, such as sculptors, gold painters and upholsterers. An unpublished theoretical part, completed usefully by more technical notes, on the art of estimating and the one of distinguishing the real from the fake chair.
