The first traces of the art of lattice-work go back to Antiquity and Roman Empire. Highly in vogue during the 17th and 18th centuries, and after a long decline at the end of the 18th, the art of lattice-work reappears in the second half of the 19th century with the restorations of parks and gardens.
Recognized as a real garden architecture, the art of lattice work is regaining today its nobleness with the restorations of the gardens of Nissim de Camondo Museum or of the Bosquet d'Encelade in Versailles.
This richly illustrated book recounts the history of the art of lattice work from its origins to the contemporary neoclassic creations and to the new concepts of urban lattice-work.
